This specialized two-day
class is an introduction to the ecology of kelp forests. Besides giving
a short, but comprehensive intrioduction to kelp forests, the fish and their
ecology is useful to teachers, scuba divers and others interested in understanding
what they see in kelp forests. The first
meeting is from 10:00am to 2:30pm, Saturday, May 11. 2019 where
you will receive information on course requriments, lecture, a course guide
and internet access to exercises to prepare for the field study. The
second meeting is a day-long snorkeling trip to Catalina Island on Sunday,
May 19, 2019 aboard the the 63 foot diving vessel, Bottom Scratcher.
Food for the day will be provided.
Students have the opportunity to dive in a number of locations near the
Isthmus area of Catalina Island. For more information on equipment, costs,
